Passing of George Henry Baxter (June 17, 1936 – October 5, 2024)

I was just very recently informed that one of the grand old gentlemen of our Club, George Baxter, passed away.  From his Obituary (see link below)…

George Baxter of Wheat Ridge, Colorado died peacefully at home after his third battle with cancer. He worked at the Denver Federal Center for 37 years. He loved building and flying model airplanes. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 57 years, two sons, and two grand-children.

A Memorial Service will be held on October 19th at 2:00 PM, at Christ Community Covenant Church : 6757 Simms St, Arvada, CO, 80004.

I am told that his wife, Dorothy, specifically requested that this information be shared with the entire Club.  I also assume that means anyone that would like to attend the memorial service next weekend would be welcome to do so.

Notice of Annual Business Meeting and Elections

Notice of Annual Business Meeting – November 5, 2024

It is my obligation to schedule and announce our intent to hold an Annual Business Meeting (“ABM”) on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024 at 7 pm.

Location will be:  Arvada Seventh-day Adventist Church, 7090 W 64th Avenue, Arvada, CO 80003.

The official AGENDA scheduled for the ABM will be:

Quorum Requirements

Please note that in order to conduct the ABM and have the Elections, we must have a quorum consisting of at least 30 active/voting members.  Please make a point of attending for the sake of holding the elections and conducting other club business as proposed in the agenda.

2025 Nominating Committee Report

A Nominating Committee has been formed to seek out candidates for the 2025 Elected Officers.  The Committee consists of Jim Hagberg, John Sponseller, and Steve Allen.  We are seeking individuals that wish to run for the elected offices of Club President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Safety Officer.  The current list of candidates are as follows:

October meeting (10/1/2024) will be back at our normal location

The October 1, 2024 meeting doors will open at 6 pm to allow indoor flying.  The member meeting will start at the usual time of 7 pm back as the usual location (Arvada Seventh-Day Adventist Church,  7090 W 64th Ave, Arvada). The October Meeting Agenda will include:

  • Indoor Flying from 6 – 7 pm
  • Brief Board Reports
  • Program (TBA) – Any Ideas?
  • Show and Tell
  • Raffle

WORK PARTY & Field Closure – Saturday (9/14) 7:30 – 10 am

Work… Play… Eat!
This is your opportunity to give back to the Club.  All fields (WEST, CL and EAST) will be closed to complete some much needed repairs and painting of our pit benches.  We will also complete any other miscellaneous work that is identified and or required.  Again, that is Saturday, 9/14, from 7:30 to 10 am, or until work is complete.  Thus, the more volunteers we have the earlier we’ll get done and the sooner we can get to flying!!!
 
Please bring with you:  battery operated drills, saws, screwdrivers, and drive accessories (i.e. phillips, flat head, sockets, etc.).  Other materials and fasteners will be provided.
 
Afterward, a free lunch (grilled burgers) will be provided by the Club.
